Default Oil Recommendations for our engines.

This past year we have seen the Mobil 1 oil formulations change. Zinc and phosphorus levels have been removed and/or lowered. Everyday I get to tear down turbochargers and with more frequency Porsche turbo engines. I always am interested to see the component wear and in many cases parts failures.

I have come up with a few recommendations..

Mobil 1 in Canada is produced and sold as 5W50... It has the old formulations with the increase from 0W40 to 5W50 with the Porsche certification on the back label. I have customers that live in Canada and bring me down the 4.5liter jugs. It can be ordered from places like Canadian Tire and Costco.

I also recommend trying to get your hands on General Motors EOS Assembly Lubricant Part Number 1052367. Right on the label it says "provides outstanding protection against run-in wear and piston scuffing.

This product is not sold anymore officially... However it is still in many dealerships inventory. I strongly suggest that you guys go out and get this "miracle lube"

I don't know anything about the Euro formula. But there are some good oils in Europe. I have never gone over to the Amsoil camp. It would be nice to find out who manufactures there base ester.

So let me get this straight....you are recommending Mobil 1 5W50, correct? I went to the Mobil website and could not find such a beast...they have a 5W40 (for turbo trucks) and 15W50...Also checked Costco on-line... Perhaps a link

Bill you won't find it.. Mobil does not advertise it.. You cannot buy/purchase it in the US.. I'll post some pictures shortly, and I'll scan the labels. Look up Canadian Tire.

Is this your recommendation for my engine as well after breakin with Dino-oil. I do have a case of the unobtanium GM EOS additive
